An employee is this class series may perform any or all of the following duties and responsibilities. Additionally, an employee receives an assignment to either Central Stores, an area of Purchasing Division, or Central Motor Pool, a division of Public Works Department. 1. Performs warehousing and store keeping tasks to include acquiring, receiving, identifying, handling, storing, issuing and delivering a wide variety of materials, parts and supplies utilizing a computerized system. 2. As assigned, guides and instructs Storekeeper I personnel in warehousing and store keeping procedures, materials identification, handling and storage, work and safety methods, daily tasks to be performed, equipment operation, record keeping, and related matters. 3. Based on request, determines proper description of materials, parts and supplies prior to acquisition and issuance of materials, parts and supplies. 4. Assists in expediting the acquisition of critical supplies and materials which are not in stock or are stored in other locations by contacting vendors, locating and pricing items, and resolving order procedure problems. 5. Verifies receipt of incoming supplies and materials against invoice and purchase order; checks items for damage; notes quantities received and any discrepancies in materials or documentation; exercises judgement in accepting or rejecting damaged or incorrect supplies and materials. Prepares invoices for submittal to ordering Departments. 6. Conducts research of manual and computerized records to resolve billing and inventory discrepancies and vendor searches. 7. Maintains vendors catalogs, cross reference indices and files. 8. Utilizes material handling equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, hand truck, and delivery vehicles to handle, pick up or deliver materials and supplies. 9. Performs housekeeping tasks to monitor the safety, security and cleanliness of area. 10. Performs special assignments as requested. 11. Performs related work as required.
